Lemon Queen is a unique Sunflower variety that has pointed petals and chocolate-brown centers, making for fabulous summer bouquets. Try planting this easy-to-grow variety every several weeks for blooms all summer long. Growing to be about 6’ tall, this variety is great for the back border of any garden or meadow.
Sought after for their bright creamy lemony yellow flowers and their ability to attract pollinators by the droves. We have seen honey bees, bumble bees, carpenter bees, and several kinds of butterflies visiting throughout the day. Plants are multi-branch have multiple flowers grown along the main stalk – and grow up to 6 ft. tall. Plant with taller or shorter sunflowers with darker blooms for dramatic contrast.
Lemon Queen Helianthus is excellent for attracting birds, butterflies, and lots of attention! Grown from Lemon Queen Sunflower seeds, this impressive annual produces a central stalk and blooms up to 12 inches and then produces several side shoots each with their own lemon yellow blooms. Sunflower Lemon Queen gets between 60 – 72 inches tall and will produce blooms in about 100 days after sowing the Sunflower seeds.
Grow Lemon Queen Sunflowers in a sunny location in somewhat fertile well-drained soil. Keep your soil weed-free and moderately moist while plants are young. Once established, Sunflower plants are somewhat drought and heat tolerant. They will flower mid-summer through fall.
Our Lemon Queen Sunflower seeds are very easy to grow and fast to flower, sown directly where they are to grow they can be partnered them with other hardy annuals. Use as a backdrop for shorter plantings, as a temporary hedge or for colour in the vegetable garden.
